A little about what you can expect in this experience.
Everyone will arrive in Kathmandu on their own (see below), and be picked up by our team partner on the ground in Kathmandu. You will head to the hotel, rest, and be ready for our medical camps. These camps will be a combination of doctors and nurses from our team, local doctors, and volunteers who will work triage and in any other capacity that’s needed.
You will be staying at a resort in Kathmandu and in Chaku, which is an American-style hotel with all of the amenities you would expect here in the USA. You will travel from Kathmandu to Chaku in a Jeep across remote Nepal. This village is remote and greatly underserved. When you return back to Kathmandu, we will spend some time experiencing the culture of Nepal before heading back to the states.
The costs for this trip is $1,700 to JIA + flight from your airport of choice to Kathmandu.
The amount to JIA will cover everything you will need in-country. This includes transportation, hotels, meals, the medical camps, and local doctors and translators. This fee also includes Global Rescue, a service that provides you with excellent medical healthcare in Nepal, as well as a rescue team should anything happen globally that puts our team at risk. JIA has coordinated everything for the time in Nepal.
You will also need to book your flight. Our recommended airline is Emirates, and you can search your planned departure airport to KTM. We are currently seeing flights around $1300-$1400 from SFO to KTM. Also note, you must have a valid passport that does not expire within six months of this trip.
A note: You may choose to depart or return anytime, as long as you’re in Kathmandu for our team meeting at 8am on April 26th to prepare for our first camp. You may choose to arrive earlier or stay later to visit Everest or other regional areas.
How can I pay for this trip?
Our portal opens up on February 21st where you can secure your spot on this trip with a deposit of $600. The remaining balance will be due by April 19th. You can make as many micro-payments as you’d like up to that date, as long as your balance is paid by then.
You’ll also need to secure your flight sooner than later, so after your deposit, make your flight a priority.
Additionally, JIA will provide a fundraising letter that you can send out to your network of family, friends, or even your employer.
